We are Doug and Alicia. We have been homesteading with our four kids in the Northern part of the United States for over 15 years. Doug has spent the majority of his career as a professional chef and restaurant manager. Alicia has spent the majority of her career managing a natural healthcare clinic. We both love gardening, the challenge of producing food in a northern climate and eating the amazing results of our efforts.
Our goal on NorthGrowCookEat is to share with you what we've learned and what we continue to learn about producing our own food (both garden and livestock) in a northern climate. We'll teach you how to grow and eat out of your garden all year round (even when there is snow on the ground), how to raise and butcher your own meat, and how to produce amazing meals from your bounty. We'll also talk about cheese production, artisan meats and food preservation methods that don't rely on traditional canning.
